To drive, or not to drive, to Mariaville in July: That is the question.

2012′s Camp Bisco lineup is rather tempting, having Crystal Castles and all, and it’s even in my native state! But it’s bucks, and a wumbo drive. Oh, the plight of summer festivals! (For those of you keeping score at home, this is White People Problems, Advanced Studies.)

Why couldn’t everything suck like last year’s Lollapalooza, so I would have zero desire for any of this?!

The following artists would like to see one, giant summer festival in Wichita, so it’s a pain in the ass for everyone involved.

The Ting Tings (@thethings), MNDR (@MNDR) @ Paradise: We’re told they started nothing, but the English, indie-rock duo did start a sold out show last night in Allston, promoting their new LP Sounds From Nowheresville after a nearly four-year hiatus. (Which reminds me; where did Black Kids go?) Welcome back, Ting Tings! Did we mention Ting Tings is fun to say? Yeah, it’s fun to say.

The Protomen (@protomen), MC Frontalot (@mc_frontalot), The World is Sqaure (facebook.com/theworldissquareband) @ Middle East Downstairs: Three words is all you need to know about Tennessee electro-rock outfit The Protomen: Mega-Man, concept, albums. Any hardcore gamer born post-1970 can only benefit from Proto’s over-the-top, Darkness-esque fare saluting our favorite cannon-armed superhero, and surrounded by a gaggle of video-game inspired acts last night, their nerd flag flied bonus-level high. Guaranteed to make you feel like an 80′s-movie badass upon first listen.
